Highlights of the event FLIGHT SAFETY AND AIRCRAFT SPARE PARTS NOT APPROVED OR COUNTERFEITED: INSTRUMENTS OF PROTECTION AND LIABILITY IN TRANSNATIONAL AND EUROPEAN LAW, NOVEMBER 17, 2018

On 17 November 2018, with the participation of a large number of lawyers and experts in the sector, was held the event “FLIGHT SAFETY AND AIRCRAFT SPARE PARTS NOT APPROVED OR COUNTERFEITED: INSTRUMENTS OF PROTECTION AND LIABILITY IN TRANSNATIONAL AND EUROPEAN LAW”, dedicated to the analysis of the rules that govern the safety of air navigation and that promote aircraft maintenance and the correct management of aeronautical spare parts.

The conference, organized by the Aviation Law Commission of the European Lawyers’ Union, was organized in the evocative setting of Volandia – Parco e Museo del Volo, one of the biggest aerospace museums in Europe, located near Milan Malpensa International Airport.

The topics were presented by prestigious speakers, with great specific experience: Arturo Radini, who was Captain of the Aviation Safety Office at Alitalia’s Corporate and the lawyer of the “Avvocatura dello Stato” Pier Luigi di Palma, that was General Director of ENAC – Ente Nationale Aviazione Civile and legal advisor of ASI (Space Italian Agency), Vice-General Secretary of Defense and member of the Appeals Board of ESA (European Space Agency).

The event was an important opportunity to analyze the sector regulations and the prevention activities that it is necessary and possible to carry out in order to fulfill the requirements of the recent U.E. Regulation 2018/1139, in order to avoid that marginal companies, to gain more market shares, and confident of ineffective and/or merely formal controls by the Authorities, from limiting the operating costs reducing maintenance activities and using suspicious procedures in the procurement of spare parts, with a negative impact on prevention standards.
